April Wiita Earns Women in Leadership Award

April Wiita, Call Center Manager in Advanced Data-Comm’s Superior, Wisconsin center, earned the Northland’s NewsCenter’s Women in Leadership Award in 2006.  This award recognizes women in the Twin Ports region who demonstrate an unwavering dedication to better themselves, their family, their profession and society.

Along with this honor, April has also been the recipient of Advanced Data-Comm’s highest award, The Charles Kintzinger Award for Excellence in Leadership.  This award has only been given to three employees in our company’s eighteen-year history.  It recognizes an employee who has shown incomparable dedication, leadership and service.  April is also a four-time recipient of Advanced Data-Comm’s Excellence Award, which honors employees for their exceptional performance, high productivity and commitment to excellence.

According to Michael Budde, Senior Vice President and General Manager at Advanced Data-Comm, “April sets herself apart by her zest for life and love of learning.  These traits have helped her become an outstanding leader who has turned Superior into one of the elite call centers in the country.  Our clients rave about her team’s spirit, integrity and results – and I believe they are a direct reflection of her leadership.”

April’s example has also inspired the Superior center to become heavily involved in their community.  In the past two years, the Superior team has accomplished the following:

·        Raised over $3000 in a 5K run to benefit CASDA (Center Against Sexually and Domestically Abused).

·        Purchased over $600 worth of toys for the Toys for Teens Drive.

·        Raised thousands of dollars for cancer research for the St. Mary’s Health System by participating in the area dragon boat races.

·        Participated in the “Sweep the City Clean” program, where employees clean up the downtown district during work hours, and the “Bid Blossoms” program, where employees plant flowers along Tower Avenue.

·        Assisted the Junior Leadership Group, where high school students, chaperoned by members of the local Chamber, are exposed to business trends, technologies and operational strategies during visits to the Superior center.

·        Volunteered in an area “Adopt-a-Highway” program

Advanced Data-Comm was founded in 1988 and provides inbound and outbound teleservices to over 100 clients nationwide.  The company operates three locations, including Oelwein and Dubuque, Iowa and Superior, Wisconsin.    In 2006, it was acquired by Working Solutions, a leading provider of remote home agents to Fortune 1000 enterprises.
